This Institution was originally started in the year 1929 as a Ceramic section of the Industry Department in the composite Madras state. It was located in a rented accommodation at washermapet Madras under the, control of a ceramic Assistant. With the Assistance of a Japanese expert.
This institute was reorganized and merged with the school of arts and crafts madras. It was separated again in the year of 1942. In the year 1948 the Industries Department started a ceramic Industry at Gudur by name Government Ceramic Factory .
The Ceramic section was shifted to Gudur and was renamed as Govt.CeramicInstitute ,Gudur. At that time it was offering a two years Diploma course.In the year 1954,the Institute started offering a three years diploma course to meet the increasing Technical Demands.In the year1959, the Technical Education Department , Andhra Pradesh.
Thestate–wide Institution of Ceramic Technology,Gudur was established from the Academic year 1986-87 with an intake of 60 per year duly observing presidential order distributing 60 seats to the three Universities as follows. The admissions were made through CEEP Exams:
Andhra University : 25 seats
Osmania University : 22 seats
Sri VenkateswaraUniversity :13seats
The Admissions are made from the regions of above Three Universities. This is also sandwich course. During Vand VI semesters, the students will be sent to be the Implant Training at various Industries and a stipend of Rs. 2890/- will be paid during the Training. After completion of the training, they will attend to the VII semester in the Institution and appear for their final year Examinations. Students perceiving this Diploma are placed in India and abroad with dignified salaries.
This institution is arranging campus Interviews by the various Ceramic Industries to the students before they attend the final examination. The officials of the various Ceramic Industries are showing interest in conducting the campus Interviews and selection of the final year students to their industries to work with good salaries at the beginning. Before completion of their VII semester examinations, most of the students receive appointment orders.
